If you are concerned about the content of a television or radio broadcast, you are entitled to complain. Your complaint can be informal or formal. Informal complaints are dealt with by the person in charge of the broadcast. Formal complaints are dealt with by the broadcaster's Standards Committee.

With the exception of complaints about breaches of privacy (which may be sent directly to the Broadcasting Standards Authority at PO Box 9213, Wellington), you must send your complaint to the broadcaster in the first instance. The broadcaster must reply to you within 20 working days of receiving your complaint.
Online News and Current Affairs programmes
If you are concerned about news and current affairs material you have seen online you should direct your complaint to the Online Media Standards Authority (OMSA). (OMSA) complaints must be lodged within 14 days of the content first being posted on the publisher's website - click here
Please note, formal complaints must be received by MediaWorks within 20 working days of the Television programme or Radio broadcast.
