
Sussan Turner
Group Managing Director, MediaWorks NZ Limited
Sussan Turner has been involved with New Zealand media for many years. She started her career as a radio journalist in Dunedin in 1983. By 1990 she had assumed responsibility for Radio Otago’s North Island operations in 1990. In 1994 she became NZSX-listed Radio Otago’s Chief Executive, and later became its Managing Director.
Sussan was appointed the South Island Manager of CanWest RadioWorks New Zealand Limited until her appointment as Chief Operating Officer of RadioWorks in April 2001.
Sussan was the driving force behind the emergence of RadioWorks as a highly profitable player in the media industry. The business now has 10 radio brands, such as The Edge, The Rock, MORE FM, The Sound and RadioLIVE, that broadcast on 126 frequencies at 24 sites around the country.
In January 2010 Sussan was appointed Group Managing Director of MediaWorks NZ Limited. In this role she manages the company’s radio, television (TV3 and FOUR), and Interactive operations. She has been on the management boards of both the radio and television businesses for a number of years, and is a former director two Dunedin City Council entities, Tourism Dunedin and the Taieri Gorge Railway.
Sussan is married with two children.
