GEORGE FM WELCOMES BACK CLARKE GAYFORD AS NICK D HEADS TO JAPANESE SHORES

Nick Dwyer (Nick D) announced this morning he will be leaving George FM Breakfast to pursue career opportunities in Japan. From March 31, George listeners will wake up to George veteran Clarke Gayford, and Aroha Harawira, who moves from her daytime slot.

Nick D has hosted the iconic breakfast spot for the last five years, and been part of a major period of growth for the station.

“Over the last five years, George has grown from a little, almost community station, that had a reputation as just being about doof and lattes into one of the greatest little powerhouses of new music and quality chat,” he says.

“I'm gonna miss George a lot, but most of all the listeners. This year is my 20th year doing radio in NZ and never have I had the pleasure of broadcasting to such a passionate and enthusiastic bunch of awesome people.”

George FM Programme Director, Willy Macalister says: “I really want to thank Nick for five years of epic enthusiasm and magic radio. His passion for all things Japanese is well known and we all wish him well as he follows his dreams!

“George Breakfast with Clarke and Aroha was meant to be. Aroha has been part of the George family for five years and we are stoked to have her step up into the breakfast show. As for the other guy, welcome home Clarke!

George FM Breakfast with Clarke and Aroha from 6am Monday, March 31st, 2014.

George FM is New Zealand’s leading dance and electronica station, broadcasting from Ponsonby Rd into the Auckland and Queenstown markets. You can also tune into George FM on Freeview and via the popular George FM Apps.
