To drive Kiwis to the VodafoneNZ snapchat channel in the lead up to the awards show, Vodafone launched a competition that gave two lucky Kiwis the opportunity to become official VodafoneNZ Snapchat presenters on the night.
Over 600 Kiwis auditioned for the opportunity, and the winners, Timaru's Kyra Butler and Auckland's Brittany Robertson, were given VIP treatment over the course of the evening.
The interest driven by the competition when combined with the real-time coverage of the event led to a total of 750,000 views of Snapchat content shared through the @vodafonenz Snapchat handle.
Mai FM and Vodafone drove listeners to VadafoneNZ's snapchat channel with a multitude of on-air drivers, such as a sponsorship on Mai's Hip Hop Hollywood, Ad punches and 15" schedule.
On the night MediaWorks drove full Vodafone integration within the TV3 broadcast with The SNAPSTAR Awards, where viewers could send in their ‘Best Lookalike’, ‘Best Air Guitar’ and ‘ Best Dance Snaps’ to VodafoneNZ with the best entries making it into one of three True First in Break TVC’s.
The VodafoneNZ Snapchat channel (built to over 7,000 subscribers) pushed out a Snapchat story across the night, starting with the red carpet. This was fed by artists at the awards, the 2x VIP competition winners and AJ who was backstage getting short interviews with the stars as they came off stage.
MediaWorks partnered with Vodafone agencies Y&R, True and social media ninjas Mish Guru to bring this project together.
