MediaWorks is New Zealand's largest independent broadcaster, and reaches more than 4 million Kiwis through its TV, Radio and Digital platforms. The company is owned by Oaktree Capital and governed by a Board of Directors; Jack Matthews (Chairman) and Jonas Mitzschke. MediaWorks is led by Michael Anderson, CEO.
Michael joined MediaWorks in August 2016 from Australia, where he was Chairman of Oztam and oOH! Media and a non-Executive Director of Fairfax Australia.
Prior to his tenure on Boards, Michael spent seven years as CEO of one of Australia's largest commercial radio groups Austereo (now Southern Cross Austereo) and before that as their Group Director, Sales. Under Michael's leadership, Austereo's EBITDA performance grew by improvements in increasing revenue and audience share, and at the same time making a successful transition into market leadership in digital.
Glen has more than 20 years of sales and management experience, the last seven in the New Zealand media industry, with roles including MediaWorks’ Chief New Ventures Officer, MediaWorks’ Head of Integration and Head of Integration at The Radio Network. Prior to his current appointment, as MediaWorks’ Chief New Ventures Officer he oversaw a number of notable commercial developments including MediaWorks TEG Live and 3NOW. Glen oversees a 160-strong team of sales, integration, and sales engagement staff, including MediaWorks’ award-winning Integration division.
Ben has been with MediaWorks for over 17 years, most recently as Head of Programming and Acquisitions where he was responsible for the strategic management and acquisition of premium content for Three’s linear and digital platforms.
He has played an integral role in the development of the TV business having held a variety of roles for both FOUR and TV3 since 2002. His most recent success saw him be part of the team to take Three to the number one channel spot in the commercially important 25-54 demo for the first time in the channels history.
Charlotte has an established history of working with some of the world's most recognisable and high profile entertainment brands and talent. She has led communication campaigns for broadcasters, brands and talent in the UK, and prior to her role at MediaWorks, she headed up the corporate communications and publicity team for Australia's largest content creator - Endemol Shine. At MediaWorks, Charlotte leads on all group communications - including content, brand and talent publicity - and corporate affairs.
Leon has extensive radio knowledge from 25 years in the business. As Group Content Director for radio at MediaWorks, Leon oversees all Radio music brands, content & people as well as relationships with other parts of the business. Prior to this Leon spent 20 years as Content Director for The Edge, taking it from a small station in Hamilton to become the biggest station in NZ.
Hal Crawford is MediaWorks’ Director or News, having joined the organisation in July 2016. In his role he manages The AM Show, The Project, The Nation and Newshub, one of New Zealand’s largest news services. Prior to joining MediaWorks, Hal was Editor in Chief and Publisher of ninemsn in Australia where he led substantial audience and revenue growth over a nine year period, managing a network of 60+ sites used daily by millions of Australians. Hal began his career in newspapers and has worked in Australia and globally in print and broadcast media. He has lectured in journalism at Melbourne’s La Trobe University and founded a social media research company, Share Wars. Prior to moving to New Zealand, Hal also sat on the Australian Press Council.
Alex graduated with a BA/LLB from Auckland University in 1999, and commenced her legal career at Bell Gully in Auckland. Alex joined MediaWorks in December 2014 after spending eleven years in the United Kingdom (from 2003 to 2014), nine years of which was with the BSkyB legal team (Principal Legal Advisor, Sky Media). In MediaWorks, Alex leads the legal team and standards committee, and is responsible for Board-related matters and corporate governance.
Mike leads MediaWorks Outdoor Media division, with over 12 years’ experience, he has previously held positions as COO and CFO. He has spearheaded MediaWorks Outdoor Media innovation suite, encompassing Datalab 2.0 and automated trading initiatives. Mike has been a key executive helping drive transformational growth and change and is a thought leader in the outdoor media sector.
Angus joined MediaWorks in August 2019 and has over 20 years' experience in the media sector in the UK and New Zealand. As a media lawyer, executive and company director he has delivered consistent results for top global brands, including the FA Premier League, Discovery Networks and Universal Studios as well as local brands including SKY television and most recently, Metservice. Angus' broad business experience makes him ideally suited to the role of Operations Director, driving operational excellence across the group.
Ilyas brings over 20 years of technology leadership in strategy, transformation, and operations. Prior to his appointment at MediaWorks in 2018, Ilyas has worked across global corporates in the Media, Finance, Government and Military Aerospace sectors. In these complex and diverse environments, he has consistently overseen business growth through technology deployment at scale.

Barry is MediaWorks' Chief Financial Officer having joined the company in November 2017. He has over 20 years experience in media in New Zealand having held senior finance and change management roles at both Stuff and NZME. Barry has worked on a number of big projects within the NZ Media industry including the launch of stuff.co.nz, the sale of INL to Fairfax and the launch of the Herald on Sunday. Barry is also currently a Director of Bravo TV New Zealand Limited.
