MediaWorks reaches 3.1 million* Kiwis through its Radio and Outdoor platforms. The company is owned by Oaktree Capital and governed by a Board of Directors; Jack Matthews (Chairman) and Jonas Mitzschke. MediaWorks is led by Cam Wallace, CEO.
Cam joined MediaWorks as Chief Executive in January 2021. Cam is responsible for shaping and delivering strategic priorities as well as the overall management of MediaWorks’ portfolio of radio & outdoor brands.
Prior to joining MediaWorks, Cam had a 19 year career with Air New Zealand, during which time he held a number of senior positions including Group General Manager New Zealand and Pacific Islands, General Manager Australia and most recently as Chief Commercial and Customer Officer.
Barry is MediaWorks' Chief Financial Officer having joined the company in November 2017. He has over 20 years experience in media in New Zealand having held senior finance and change management roles at both Stuff and NZME. Barry has worked on a number of big projects within the NZ Media industry including the launch of stuff.co.nz, the sale of INL to Fairfax and the launch of the Herald on Sunday. Barry is also currently a Director of Bravo TV New Zealand Limited.
Leon has extensive radio knowledge from 25 years in the business. As Group Content Director for radio at MediaWorks, Leon oversees all Radio music brands, content & people as well as relationships with other parts of the business. Prior to this Leon spent 20 years as Content Director for The Edge, taking it from a small station in Hamilton to become the biggest station in NZ.
Liz Fraser joined MediaWorks as its Commercial Director in March 2021. She began her 22 year media industry career at TVNZ where she worked in the sales, marketing and television programming teams. She’s also previously worked at MediaWorks in the role of Group Head of Revenue where she was responsible for managing the sales and commercial teams across TV, radio and digital. Liz joined MediaWorks from Air New Zealand where she held a number of senior roles, including Regional General Manager Americas and General Manager Customer.
Alex graduated with a BA/LLB from Auckland University in 1999, and commenced her legal career at Bell Gully in Auckland. Alex joined MediaWorks in December 2014 after spending eleven years in the United Kingdom (from 2003 to 2014), nine years of which was with the BSkyB legal team (Principal Legal Advisor, Sky Media). In MediaWorks, Alex leads the legal team and standards committee, and is responsible for Board-related matters and corporate governance.
Mike leads MediaWorks Outdoor Media division, with over 12 years’ experience, he has previously held positions as COO and CFO. He has spearheaded MediaWorks Outdoor Media innovation suite, encompassing Datalab 2.0 and automated trading initiatives. Mike has been a key executive helping drive transformational growth and change and is a thought leader in the outdoor media sector.
Ilyas brings over 20 years of technology leadership in strategy, transformation, and operations. Prior to his appointment at MediaWorks in 2018, Ilyas has worked across global corporates in the Media, Finance, Government and Military Aerospace sectors. In these complex and diverse environments, he has consistently overseen business growth through technology deployment at scale.
